Since the dawn of X Factor wannabes and autotune blandness it's not easy to get excited about a live act, but the Ratistas damn well demand that you do.

 

With their brand of Punk, Reggae and Ska it's difficult not to think of the Clash but that would being doing them an injustice, throw in some elements of waltzklezmer mayhem and you are still not close. The band slip effortlessly through the styles binding it all together with a common thread that is pure Ratistas, and if you steady yourself enough to listen to the lyrics, you will find yourself in a world of lowlifes happy to move up to the ghetto, a gigolo musing on what he would do for an extra tenner, the happiness to be gained in misery and the modern consumer with a TV so big he can no longer perform. oh and when the band and audience turn into one big skankfest you will know you have had a night to remember.

The bands live show thrills equally, in hot sweaty venues under the lights, or the festival stage in glorious sunshine, and with two highly charged Basque festivals under their belt, not even European borders can hold them back. The original line up has evolved over the years building on the joyous sound that has gone before. The song writing core of the band has remained unchanged and the beat gos on.
